GARDEN SCREEN DOOR

If you love the sound of the screen door slamming on your back porch’ you’ll love it out in your garden. I have combined the need for a garden gate and the eclectic look of metal doors to shine out in the sunlight. This door has a freestanding frame to support the free swing of the door. Growing up on a farm, I remember the story my father would tell about how chickens would swallow stones to help digest the feed they eat. This thought came back to me when I saw this fieldstone out at my studio. I’m sure there are better analogies with the circle of metal and the bright color red, but it was this thought I started with. —Rick DeTroyer
